Dar Al-Hekma University (DAHU) is a pioneering education project of Al-Elm Foundation, which established the University with the objective of providing state-of-the-art higher education programs and facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The University's founders shared the vision of establishing a world-class non-profit institution of higher education in the city of Jeddah.

The campus, which was designed to provide the best teaching and educational resources for its students, faculty, and staff, was built and equipped according to high international standards.The University admitted its first students as Dar Al-Hekma College in September 1999 and achieved the university status in 2014.

Dar Al-Hekma University is committed to the furtherance and enhancement of knowledge, creativity, excellence, sustainability, integrity, fairness, intellect, and independent thinking among its students. The University's first academic programs were developed by the Texas International Education Consortium with English as the language of instruction for all degree programs.

Dar Al-Hekma now offers14undergraduate degree programs and seven (7) graduate programs under three schools: The Hekma School of Business and Law, the Hekma School of Design and Architecture, and the Hekma School of Education and Sciences. The 25,000 square-meter campus includes classrooms, computer and science laboratories, faculty and administrative offices, and a library, all of which were designed in a manner to provide a sophisticated and advanced learning environment.

Dar Al-Hekma University is recognized as a model institution of teaching and learning. In 2010, it was amongst the first batch of universities in Saudi Arabia which earned full institutional accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA), later renewed until October 2025

    Launching Dar Al-Hekma College

  • 2005

    Developed Dar Al-Hekma University 2030 Strategy in collaboration with strategic experts

  • 2010

    Achieved NCAAAA Institutional Accreditation amongst the first batch of universities and colleges in KSA

  • 2011

    Developed the MBA curriculum in collaboration with UC, Berkeley

  • 2012

    Achieved the "Saudization Award" from the Ministry of Labor

  • 2014

    Achieved the University Status from the Ministry of Higher Education

  • 2015

    Launched the strategic plan 2015-2021 in collaboration with Stevens Strategy in the US Joined the "Guiness Wrold Record" in mental literacy

  • 2017

    Renewed the Institutional Accreditation with NCAAA

  • 2018

    Developed a new structure for the Academic Programs in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030.

  • 2019

    Started accepting male students in graduate programs

  • 2021

    Launching Strategic Plan 2021-2026.

  • 2022

    Achieved the 2nd rank amongst the private universities and the 9th rank amongst Saudi universities by the "Saudi Universities Sports Federation"

  • 2023

    Opening the bachelor's degree for male students in three programs: Bachelor of Law, Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
