​​Borrowing Policies

Information on what you can borrow can be found at the information desk. Library has extensive collections to help you get the materials you need for your classes and research. The options below will help you get what you need as quickly as possible. Delivery books is a service for DAH Library patrons. Patrons can request that an item be shipped from the main library to your offices of their choosing for more convenient pickup.(Faulty only) DVDs and CDs are excluded from this delivery service.

​Library User Responsibilities

As a borrower, it is your responsibility to:

  • Keep the borrowed items in good physical condition
  • Return or renew library materials by the due date
  • Be aware of the library materials' due date as shown in My Account
  • Report a lost items immediately to the Library
  • Show damage to Circulation staff before borrowing, to avoid paying charges for pre-existing damage

You should NOT

  • Loan your University card to anyone else to use
  • Deface library materials
  • Write, underline, or use a highlighter in library materials
  • Fold, cut, or tear pages from library materials
  • Leave self-adhesive notes or paper clips in library materials

Any DAH student, faculty or staff member can use or reserve the study rooms:

  • To reserve a study room, the Library user must contact the Library Staff by email or visit the Library Information Desk at least one day in advance
  • Seats for 2-25 people
  • Whiteboard, Table, chairs, TV Flat Screen
  • The rooms able to be darkened
  • The rooms can be a little noisy at busy times in the library
  • Disabled access. (using the Library elevator (back side) , kindly ask for help from circulation desk librarian​

​​​How Do I find DVDs and Videos in the library?

Dar Al Hekma Library has a large collection of DVDs and Videos in different topics, all of the Library's videos and DVDs are shelved and located in the Technical Services Room (150 B). Library will often loan out DVDs, You can also try the DVDs before the checkout.

​Finding Audio Visuals Materials Searching the Catalog

Use the Library Catalog to search for specific films. Use the "Title" option to look films by title. Use the "Author" option for director.

To look for a specific type of film, use the advanced keyword search.

  • Select the "Advanced Keyword" tab in the catalog
  • Under "media type" select "Motion pictures and video recordings ". Please be aware that the Library collects videos in all these formats (and houses players for them), so you may limit your results too much this way
  • Add additional search terms, such as an actor (in all fields) or director (as author).
  • Select Library location (Technical Services Room.) if this is important to you

Playing DVDs on Library Computers

Use earphones. Remember that you must use earphones to watch a DVD in the Library, whether you are using a Library computer or your own laptop. Earphones are available to borrow at the Library Circulation Desk.​
